ART VOICES returns this week for Season Two with a conversation around film, music, and new media.
We’re opening with two artists working across very different forms, but circling a similar question: what changes when artists begin shaping not only the work, but the systems through which it is made, distributed, and experienced?
Chikai Ohazama — Japanese-American filmmaker and co-creator of Google Earth whose practice brings computational systems into cinema. Working with generative models, custom software, and a background in biomedical engineering, his films explore life, death, cultural boundaries, nostalgia, and magical realism.
Ed Balloon — multidisciplinary artist and musician working across music, film, stop-motion animation, and generative art. His projects, including Run Ed and Beauty Supply Is Out of Du-Rags, use sound, moving image, and code to explore identity, Black culture, representation, and new ways for music and art to circulate.
Gordon Moderator:
Justin Gilanyi — curator, collector, and cultural strategist working across contemporary and digital art. Founder of WhereArt.Works and Curator at SILK, his work connects artists, collectors, galleries, and institutions across digital and physical contexts.

Elena Zavelev — Lead, Growth at HUG and faculty member at Sotheby’s Institute of Art.
